The upper limit for free sugars is about 10% of calories: 50 g at 2000 kcal.

Whole fruit is usually not counted as free sugar. Juice and added sugar are.

Do non-sugar sweeteners count?

They are not sugar, so they are not in this gram count. Their safety debate is outside this tool.

What is the difference between 5% and 10%?

10% is the strong recommendation. 5% is a conditional target for further dental benefit.
