Frequently asked questions

How many grams of fiber do I need?

About 14 g per 1000 kcal, or 28 g at 2000 kcal.

Soluble versus insoluble fiber?

Soluble fiber is higher in oats and legumes; insoluble fiber in bran and skins. The gram target counts both.

Does fiber cause weight loss?

It can increase fullness, but weight loss still needs a calorie deficit. Fiber does not burn fat by itself.

Can a supplement replace food fiber?

A powder can fill the grams, but it does not carry the other nutrients in vegetables, legumes and whole grains.
